STEP 1 - ARTWORK
Artwork can be in any format, from a line drawing to a photograph. In order to get the best results if you have the artwork in .ai, or .eps format this is a great help.
CAD cut vinyls are a way of quickly and cheaply decorating clothing. Normally used for numbers and names on sportswear, vinyls can be used in a variety of ways. Horse rugs, bride's sashes , sports bags and caps are just a few items that we can decorate.
The following is the process for applying vinyls

Once we have the artwork, we may need to clean up the design before we turn it into an outline
Once we have the outlines, we then cut each section of the same colour from coloured vinyl sheeting.
Weeding is where we take out the unwanted pieces of vinyl to leave the desired shapes. This is done by hand. Sometimes we have to use tweezers and needles to weed out very small or fine sections. Because of this, some fine detail may be lost or we may have to adjust the size of letters to make then more readable.
Once the weeding is finished, the design is pressed on to the garment. This is done at a temperature of about 160 degrees C with a high pressure heat press. Each colour must be aligned and pressed separately.
Vinyls will last for a very long time if they are treated properly. As the transfers are applied with heat, they will come off with heat. Please do not use a tumble drier to dry the clothes or press them directly with a hot iron.
